Here's the cover

I couldn't load the entire piece together for some reason...

I wanted to create a picture book for a short story so I looked around the web and found The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. The story was published in 1948 in the New Yorker and has a small town American Gothic-ish feel (if there is such a literary thing). I wanted to convey that mood as much as I could; hence, the (mostly) black and white pics of vintage Americana, limited color palette and the heavy use of rectangles and dark borders. It needed to feel clean and particularly traditional, almost anti-modern.

You've all very likely read it and it's a quick read. Please tell me if it hit the mark and especially if it didn't. Thx all and enjoy the holiday!

I think it's done...

Well at least my free trial is...

I'm semi-finished with my magazine and I have so many questions... Can't wait 'till class! Just a few details to finish up, but I'm so stuck! I struggled hard to get certain results and, of course, now can't remember how I finally got them... so here's to future struggles with the same items! Ugh!

How is everyone else doing?

Book Signing Flyer

I'd still like to do some editing to the text on the ribbon. It is supposed to be smaller than the other text, but I think currently it is too small. I was just struggling to get the text to wrap in order to make it readable at a larger size.

Fun to do, but so much to improve

I have a vision for the look of the flyer, but I need to learn more of the basics of InDesign. A redesign of the flyer would include all of the elements required for this assignment (author image, text about the book and author, three shapes, four colors).
